Mechatronics Engineering is an application-oriented, multidisciplinary branch of engineering that has emerged from the interaction of Mechanical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering in response to advancing technologies and changing industrial needs.
The multidisciplinary and industry-oriented nature of Mechatronics Engineering enables graduates to become engineers with knowledge and experience in a wide range of technological and managerial fields. As a result, they can pursue career opportunities across a broad spectrum, from research to project management, in diverse sectors such as automotive, aerospace, materials, manufacturing, automation, energy, consumer electronics, defense systems, and medical electronics.

The Mechatronics Engineering Program differs from other mechatronics engineering programs in Türkiye through its strong laboratory infrastructure and educational philosophy, which ideally combines theoretical and practical education and supports this approach through effective internships enabled by strong industry connections. In this way, students graduate not only with a solid theoretical and practical background, but also with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the professional world before graduation through their internships.
The Mechatronics Engineering Program has been designed in accordance with the changing and evolving needs of technology and industry, based on a Y-Model education system. Accordingly, during the first half of the four-year program, covering the first two years, students take common courses in the fundamentals of mechanical, electronics, computer, and control engineering. During the second half of the program, covering the third and fourth years, students continue their education by selecting one of two specialization tracks with an emphasis on either Mechanical Engineering or Electronics Engineering, in line with their individual interests and competencies. Thus, graduates develop a strong foundation in mechanical, electronics, and computer engineering while also receiving more in-depth and application-oriented education in their chosen specialization.

What are the distinctive features of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Turkish-German University?
Consortium of German Universities:
Turkish-German University works with a special consortium established for TAU by 29 universities in Germany, following a model that goes beyond conventional academic consultancy. Within this consortium, Technische Universität Berlin represents the engineering disciplines. Under this model, the Consortium of German Universities is represented within the faculty by a coordinator. This structure reflects the international character of the university and supports a model in which academic decisions are made jointly.
One-month scholarship-supported language course in Germany:
A number of successful students who complete the preparatory year and reach B2/C1 level are selected, subject to available quotas, to attend a one-month language course in Germany during the summer with scholarship support.
Exchange opportunities and summer school:
Successful students in Mechatronics Engineering have the opportunity to study in Germany either through a one-semester exchange program or a one-month summer school. Funding is provided by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
One-third of the faculty members in the undergraduate program come from Germany:
According to the founding agreement signed between the two countries, the German government has committed to providing one-third of the university's academic staff from Germany.
Degree recognition and academic opportunities:
Graduates of the Mechatronics Engineering Program have significant advantages when applying for Master's and doctoral programs at partner universities in Germany.
Second foreign language:
The Mechatronics Engineering curriculum includes English language courses beginning in the third semester. Therefore, students graduate with proficiency in two foreign languages.
Relations with industrial organizations:
The Faculty of Engineering aims to maintain close cooperation particularly with Turkish-German industrial organizations. Graduates are expected to benefit from strong international career opportunities in their fields of education.
